Brief Information About DMARC
The DMARC is a layer of email authentication that focuses on the "From" portion of the email message. For example, if the email "From:" address has a @yahoo.com domain and the email message was not sent by the yahoo.com servers, the email message will fail to authenticate and the message will not be delivered to the destination.
In these situations, PHP Live! system will set the "From:" as the chat department email address to ensure the message is delivered. This will result in the "To:" and the "From:" being the same email address, the chat department email address. The visitor's original email address will be included in the message body.
PHP Live! has few DMARC domains set to detect automatically (yahoo, hotmail and aol.com). Visitor email addresses matching @yahoo.com, @hotmail.com or @aol.com are considered DMARC message. If wanting to reply to a DMARC message, forward the message to the original email address (displayed in the email message). The process may be a bit cumbersome but this DMARC work around is to ensure the visitor's offline message is delivered to the department email address.
If needing to add your own set of DMARC domains, the steps are outlined below:
After the work-around implementation, visitors with @yahoo.com and other DMARC_DOMAINS email addresses will still be able to leave an offline message. There will also be a short message in the message body indicating it is a DMARC domain. Note: if the offline message does not seem to reach the inbox, check the spam folder. Because the "To" and "From" is the same information, some email filtering systems may get confused on how to filter the email message.
