Move the web folder to another location on the server

NOTE: PHP Live! version must be >= v.4.4.99.98.  Previous versions will produce an error when trying to move the web/ folder.  The latest version can be downloaded at the client area.

The phplive/web/ folder contains dynamic variables and files needed by the system.  If you wish to move the phplive/web/ folder to another location on the server that is not accessible by the web browser.  Here is what you'll want to do:

  1. Edit the phplive/web/config.php file and remove the following line:

    $CONF = Array() ;

  2. Save the file.
  3. Move the entire phplive/web/ directory to the new location on the server. After the move, be sure the web/ folder still has full read/write permission by the web server because the web server will still need to write data into the directory.
  4. Create a new file (if not already exists) at phplive/API/Util_Extra_Pre.php and include the following lines:
    NOTE: replace the /new_path/ with the actual full path of the moved web/ folder location

    <?php
    $CONF['CONF_ROOT'] = "/new_path/web" ;
    ?>

  5. Save the file.
  6. Because the phplive/web/ directory was moved to a new location, create a new phplive/web/ directory. The new web/ directory does not require read/write permission. It is now just a reference directory. Inside the newly created phplive/web/ directory, create a new config.php file and include the following lines:
    NOTE: replace the /new_path/ with the actual full path of the moved web/ folder location

    <?php
    $CONF = Array() ;
    include_once( "/new_path/web/config.php" ) ;
    ?>

  7. Save the file.
  8. Done!

Additionally, if wanting to move the temporary chat file locations, please reference the "Move the temporary chat file directory to another location" documentation.
